The Yamas: How we interact with the world around us
The Niyamas: How we act towards ourselves
Yamas & Niyamas Weekly Yoga Class Series
From the traditional study to the therapeutic approach, this class series implements a feminine lens to ease each principle into life in a more modern and harmonious way
Starting March 26th, we begin a ten-week journey exploring the embodied practice of the yogic principles of the Yamas & Niyamas through a feminine and therapeutic perspective.
Modern yoga of physical movements and postures comes from the path of Raja Yoga also known as Ashtanga, the eight-limbed path. The Yamas and Niyamas are the first two limbs of this path, before reaching the third limb of Asana that we regularly know and practice.
The Yamas & Niyamas are the jewels of wisdom that start the journey of yoga. They give direction to the yogi towards a well-lived and joyful life. The Yamas reflect how we interact with the world around us while the Niyamas reflect how we act towards ourselves.
Every Tuesday for ten weeks, we will practice a slow and gentle yoga class while weaving in the wisdom of each principle like a thread for intentional living. By the end of this journey, we will have woven these threads together to make a significant, positive, and mindful impact on our lives. By embodying the Yamas & Niyamas, students take the foundation of yoga off the mat and into creating a yogic lifestyle for themselves.
This class series is for any yoga enthusiast seeking a deeper understanding of Yoga philosophy, ethics, and practice. This particular yoga class series will deliver the principles on a whole new level by showcasing them from a more feminine perspective. This is an invitation to implement a therapeutic approach to your practice. You are invited to intentionally carry each theme into the rest of your week and share any personal reflections from this embodied practice and how it impacted you.
You do not need to attend every single class though it is recommended as complete attendance will provide a thorough understanding of what the principles of yoga have to offer.
“The Yamas & Niyamas free you to take ownership of your life and direct it towards the fulfillment you seek.”
Learn to turn your yoga into an embodied practice whether on or off the mat by invoking a feminine perspective and a therapeutic approach to the ten traditional yogic ethical guidelines.
